Animation for an adult audience
Viborg Animation Festival is now opening submissions for our pitch competition – Pitchin’ 2026.
The competition has a clear purpose: to make room for new ideas that can shape the animation stories of the future and to shine a spotlight on animation for an adult audience; a target group that does not usually receive as much attention within animation.
From 1 April, both emerging and established filmmakers can submit their idea for an animated project to the pitch competition, which each year brings together interesting, new and ambitious voices within the animation industry.
Would you like to win DKK 25,000?
The pitch competition is held in collaboration with the Danish Film Directors, who sponsor the main prize of DKK 25,000, which the winner can use to further develop their project – and ANIS – Danish Animation Society. The cash prize is intended as both an encouraging recognition and an opportunity to gain visibility and form new collaborations.
Matilde Digmann, one of the creators behind the 2024 winning project “Pseudo”, says:
“Winning Pitchin’ has had a huge impact on our project. It was a great honor, especially because we were up against so many fantastic projects. It gave our team the motivation to focus on the work at hand. It also provided us with the financial leeway to continue developing our script.”
Are you ready to submit your project?
If you have an exciting animation idea that you dream of bringing to life, now is the time to act.
The submission period runs from 1 April to 31 July. We will review all submitted ideas shortly after the deadline and will contact directly those whose project is selected for the competition.
The pitch competition will take place on Friday, 11 September 2026 at Paletten, Tingvej 20, 8800 Viborg.
We look forward to receiving your idea.
