Pitchin’ – Denmark’s only national pitch competition for animation aimed at an adult audience.
Have an idea for an animated film for an adult audience, consider entering it in the VAF pitch competition, Pitchin’. Get the chance to present your idea to a professional jury, get feedback and compete for the grand prize of 25,000 DKK (sponsored by the Danish Film Directors Association). Viborg Animation Festival selects 6–8 ideas to participate in the pitch competition. You can learn more about the pitch framework below. Why a pitch competition focused on animation for adults?
Viborg Animation Festival hosts a pitch competition focused on animation for adults in order to strengthen the development of new stories in this genre. The competition aims to help more adult-oriented animated films get realised and reach their audience, thereby reinforcing animation as a broad storytelling medium in Danish film culture. The pitch competition provides a professional platform where ideas can be refined and the industry can discover new stories and talents. By bringing together projects aimed at an adult audience in a dedicated competition, the festival helps further develop an area that has traditionally had limited visibility in Denmark.
Winning the pitch competition gave me a stronger starting point to create my film in an often uncertain industry, where there are few opportunities to get support for niche animated shorts aimed at adults.
